Determining when to seek emergency care isn’t always easy for pet parents. After all, our four-legged family members can’t tell us when they aren’t feeling well or explain their symptoms to us. And to make matters even more difficult, animals instinctively hide signs of pain, weakness and illness—often until the problem has become so severe that they can no longer mask their symptoms.

In many cases, scheduling an appointment with your regular veterinarian is a suitable option. However, we urge you to seek immediate veterinary care if you have any reason to suspect that your pet could be facing a serious problem. Erring on the side of caution is always your best bet when it comes to something as crucial as your beloved companion’s health.
